I joined the BVC because music fills me with joy, and choral harmony is an experience like no other. I cherish the chance to meet new friends who love singing as much as I do, and creating music together is deeply rewarding.

I fondly recall attending concerts and watching my mom perform with BVC when I was younger. Her positive experiences with BVC and the choir’s incredible talent ignited my passion for music and inspired me to join choir ensembles in both middle school and high school. When the opportunity to join BVC arose, I was thrilled! The chance to sing in such a fantastic choir and share the stage with my mom has truly brought everything full circle.
I am beyond excited and proud to be a part of BVC!

I’ve been singing with BVC for most of its existence. It’s a joy to be able to use your voice as an instrument, blend it with other vocal talent, and create an impressive piece of artwork! Jason is a fabulous leader and teacher. We are always learning and growing together in harmony and unity! I have made many special memories with BVC and I look forward to many more!

It’s a place where I can express myself and grow a passion I gained back in college (my regret’s not beginning my singing journey a lot earlier). I discovered that I love singing low, so it’s great to have an opportunity to sing Tenor in this ensemble. When life gives you trouble, singing’s a way to escape reality and feel at ease. Specifically with me, when violin started becoming a slight physical/mental burden a few years ago I wanted to continue music in some sort of fashion. Additionally, singing in various ensembles/settings has led me to grow my other interest in composing, which started back in high school. I’m someone that loves trying new things and being creative – almost doesn’t matter what the activity is.

I joined the BVC in 2023 after hearing two beautiful concerts under founding artistic director Jason Throne with guest performers UHS Chorale. It was especially thrilling to perform with my children in the past couple years. I am excited to continue singing with this talented group of musicians under our new artistic director Nathan Reiff.

Music has been important to me my whole life, and I love being a part of a community that helps push me to grow as a singer.

This is our first year with Nathan Reiff as creative director, and he is bringing new music, new directing, and a new sense of humor. These are good things, despite missing all these with Jason. And the choir is amazingly talented. Everyone is so kind and friendly, appreciating new members and their gifts of song, encouragement, and humor. And we have a fabulous accompianist in Linda. This is a great place to call home for singing.

It is a friendly group that loves to sing.

While I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting my children’s musical endeavors in recent years, I am grateful for the opportunity for me to sing in a choir again – and with so many lovely and talented individuals!

The music is always challenging and captivating. Fellow singers are of a wide age range, and are friendly. Jason is demanding, which results in quality performances, and he has a good sense of humor

Our Brandywine Valley Chorale has great fellowship with one another and is consistently committed to excellence in the choral music arts. Both this and my life-long singing and Baritone soloist experience have made serving as a BVC member a great blessing to me.

It’s a great opportunity to sing large works, new and classic, with a group of people who enjoy singing and each other.

I joined the BVC back in 2007 in its first year. Across the years I have grown tremendously as a musician due to our amazing director Jason Throne and all the BVC staff! I find great joy,inspiration and deep appreciation just coming to practice every week. Aspirations to musical excellence continue to challenge while profound BVC friendships ground me in a circle of care and helpfulness. I JUST LOVE THE BVC!

Singing with the BVC is a weekly reminder of what an important role music plays in my life. The BVC has also given me the opportunity to sing on stage with my children!

I love the opportunity to sing a variety of really good choral music. We sing all kinds of classical choral music, and for me it is really fun and enjoyable to sing with many friends. I enjoy working with Jason, Linda, and all my friends at BVC. It is an honor to the be the Tenor Section Leader of this fine group.

I love it because the music we’ve sung is obviously selected with great care and attention to audiences’ tastes. Equally important, the members are talented and terrific to work with, and the leadership (Board of Directors) is superb.

Performing great choral music

I enjoy the broad range of music in our performances and the interactions with our diverse chorale members.

I love to sing. I even was a music major in college with voice being my “instrument”. With the Brandywine Valley Chorale I found a place I can sing with some other people from all around the area who love to sing and are a great group of people.

I enjoy making music with people in my community who come from many different walks of life. Being in a choir allows me to make connections with people which I normally would not be able to do.

I love learning and performing choral music that is new to me; music that is beautiful and challenging. Conductor Jason Throne leads the group into just this kind of exploration. And BVC members take his lead, enjoying music making and encouraging one another in the process.

The music and the company.

BVC has gotten me back into challenging choral music after many years. Singing is so therapeutic and keeps one’s mind sharp! It is a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when a difficult piece is mastered and performed. I’m now on the board and have the title of poinsettia “Queen” (self appointed) as I am in charge of the poinsettia fundraiser. ❤️

It is fun to learn challenging music.

Singing in the BVC has honestly been one of the highlights of my life. We sing beautiful and challenging music; often premiering a new work or a work seldom, if ever, performed in our area. BVC singers are committed to providing quality performances. Our director is a consumate professional and is AMAZING. After decades of singing, I’m still learning from him. Above all this, I consider all these individuals my friends and it is sheer joy being in their company.

After many years of conducting choirs and singing under the direction of several conductors, it is a pure joy to experience the mastery of Jason Throne. Under his direction, BVC is as much a learning experience as it is an opportunity for choral, performance. I am more than grateful to be a member.
